Dyspareunia

35-year-old Ms. X comes to me with the following problem:

For the past several weeks, she has had pain in her vagina when sleeping with her husband. This greatly worries her, particularly because she wants to be sure that she does not have a vaginal disease, or that she “caught something”.

After the gynecological examination found no abnormality, she was relieved but still wants to know what is causing her pain.

When I ask why she thinks she might have “caught something”, she tells me that a few weeks ago she fell in love with another man. 

They had wonderful sex with each other, but without a condom. She never has pain when sleeping with him. But when her husband wants to sleep with her she becomes cramped, does not even desire him and no longer becomes wet.
